Cantate Bavaria

Munich, the “Capital with Heart“ is with its beautiful surroundings one of Germans most visited cities. This is no surprise because Munich offers so much: the Bavarian lifestyle, Germany’s most popular breweries, and the breathtaking countryside are unique in Germany. Culture and sporting events play a big role among Bavarians, and visitors can count on friendly services.

Despite the dynamic lifestyle, there is always enough time to enjoy the comfortable Bavarian ambience. Beer gardens and Coffee shops invite not only tourists but also natives to relax. Furthermore, the traditional restaurants offer a variety of food, like meat loaf, pork and sausages.

In and around Munich there are held friendship concerts with several choirs from all over the world, supporting of a church service and a final concert with all choirs is waiting for the participants. The final concert, where each choir will introduce itself with one song, is held at the impressive St. Michael’s Church in the centre of Munich, the first renaissance church north of the Alps. There are 41 members of the famous Wittelsbach dynasty buried in this magnificent church as several kings and dukes. The evening will close with dinner, music and dance together with all the choirs to end some memorable days at Munich. You can also plan an interesting and eventful visit in the surroundings of Munich, where you can see the famous castles and lakes.

	Programme Each choir will get an individual programme - here you see an example for the stay in Munich: Thursday: Arrival at the hotel and check-in. Friday: Breakfast and guided tour in Munich (without entrance fees). In the afternoon preparation for the friendship concert, this is in the evening in Munich or surrounding. Take a drink after the concert together with the other choirs. Saturday: In the morning shopping or individual tours. Final concert with all participating choirs in the Church St Michael in the centre of Munich. After the concert optional dinner with participating choirs in a typical Bavarian restaurant in Munich. Sunday: Departure or church service and extension.

By coach: Coming by own coach to Barcelona, the coach must be available for all transfers of the choir.

By flight: There are offered many flights to Barcelona or Girona. Coming by flight, music&friends will organize all necessary ground transport. Just check the following links for flight information: germanwings, Air Berlin, bmibaby

Extension: With an extension, music&friends can offer a church service on Sunday and e.g. a guided tour to the Alps. There is the castle of Neuschwanstein, one of the most visited sights in Europe, many lakes and baroque churches. Ask for the conditions to extend your stay in Munich or in other towns in Germany.

The participation has been for us a great experience. These 3 days in Munich have been organized in the best way. From the friendship concert with all participating choirs, up to the common concert in the St Michael’s Church. The participation at the VI. International festival Cantate Bavaria Munich 2011 was a pleasant experience for all members in our choir and a pleasant musical experience. It was the reward and the thanks to the singers for their work in the choir, for many hours of rehearsals and for the ceremonies of our 65^thanniversary. We represented our country and our hometown on the festival. Both concerts were successful and we got long lasting applause and word of thanks after the concerts. The friendship concert in the church St. Cecilia on Friday was perfectly organized. The local host choir spread a friendly atmosphere also after the concert. We enjoyed the tour from the first to the last minute: The concerts, the guided tours, everything was wonderful. Munich is a very beautiful city and we enjoyed a perfect organization, hotel, buses, rehearsals, venues, dinners and of course our guide Marion, a very charming person, always ready to help us. The tour has been perfect and an unforgettable experience to gather different cultures with an universal language: The music! We would like to thank the organization for a perfect work. At the Cantate Bavaria 2011 in Munich, the Pilsen Children Choir introduced itself at two concerts, which have been visited mainly from singers of other choirs of the festival. We enjoyed the possibility to see the Bavarian capital with an excellent local tour guide and have been satisfied with the quality of the accommodation and the meals. The farewell dinner in a traditional Bavarian beer cellar was a nice reward. We enjoyed the local specialties and the beer. What a pity, how fast the 3 days in Munich passed.
