Friday:

Arrival in Spain. Accommodation in Barcelona or on a resort on the Costa Brava. Our coordinator will assist you and offer you a welcome drink and a final briefing on the programme. Dinner at the Hotel.

Saturday:

Breakfast at the Hotel. Guided sightseeing tour of Barcelona the lively capital of Catalonia. This fascinating city offers sights from different times: from the Gothic Quarters to the extravagant masterpieces of Antonio Gaudi such as the Holy Family Church.  From the Ramblas, with countless restaurants, cafes and bistros to the modern vantage point of the Montjuich Mountain. Lunch in a restaurant. During the day all choirs will have the opportunity to sing in the main square or Plaza Mayor of the Pueblo Español (Spanish Village) a replica of Spain’s multicultural ancestry and architectural styles combined in a single exhibition site. In the evening a friendship concert is organised by a Spanish host-choir in a church or concert hall with choirs of several nationalities. This is a great opportunity for choirs to share their music and sing before knowledgeable audiences. At the end of the concerts some refreshments will be served to all participants in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Sunday:

Visit Girona the city of the 4 rivers, a monumental place of a rich and legendary historical past. The city centre has preserved its medieval aspect almost untouched. We shall visit the Gothic Cathedral (begun ca. 1292), with one of the world's widest (74 feet [23 m]) aisle-less naves and a Romanesque cloister. The visit continues through the old town around the Cathedral. This area was an important Jewish centre, which can be best admired at "El Call" where Jewish legacy has been remarkably kept. In the afternoon and evening, farewell concert of all participating choirs in a concert hall in Girona. A farewell dinner with music and dance at the Costa Brava will follow to round off the Cantate Barcelona on a festive note.
