Northern of New York up to the Canadian borders is the region of New England, which is strongly stamped by the European immigrants. Vermont - the country of the green hills - was discovered 1609 by Samuel Champlain. The biggest lake of the country (and fifth biggest continental lake in America) bears his name.
In the area of the small town Stowe a music festival has taken place "on the meadow", in churches and the International Choir Festival Vermont is a special experience with performances in the Vermont ski museum and other places.
A little Austria and much of Vermont, this is the Trapp-Family Lodge at Stowe. The history of the Trapp family got world-famous by the film "The Trapp Family" and the musical "The sound of music". They discovered her paradise in the midst of Vermont after years of travelling - and of course they care musical tradition till today.
